Enrollment Guide of Chengdu Medical College M.A. Postgraduate Program in Clinical Medicine for International Students (2023)

I. Introduction to CMC

Chengdu Medical College (CMC), under the auspices of the Sichuan Provincial Government, is located in the north of the provincial capital city, Chengdu. CMC has two campuses (Xindu campus and Tianhui campus) with an area of about 181 acres. CMC has 14 teaching units, 1 affiliated hospital and 7 co-construction affiliated hospitals, and it covers 12 MA postgraduate majors, 23 undergraduate majors and 5 three-year-program majors with a total enrollment of 14,900 full-time students. The MA postgraduate majors involve 9 majors of professional master degree (Clinical Medicine, Pharmacy, Public Health, Medical Technology, Applied Psychology, Nursing, Biology and Medicine, Public Management and Agriculture) and 3 majors of academic master degree (Clinical Medicine, Basic Medicine and Marxist Theory). CMC has 2 national experimental teaching platforms, 1 medical humanistic quality education base of the Ministry of Education and 6 experimental teaching demonstration centers of Sichuan Province.CMC has 4 national first-class undergraduate majors, 13 provincial first-class undergraduate majors, 3 provincial undergraduate characteristic majors and 4 provincial application-oriented demonstration majors. CMC has one course ranked as the national first-class undergraduate course and 67 courses ranked as provincial first-class undergraduate courses, ideological and political demonstration courses, innovation and entrepreneurship education demonstration courses and application-oriented demonstration courses, respectively. CMC has been awarded First Prize of Provincial Excellent Teaching Achievement Awards three times and Second Prize four times in the past five years.

CMC has 1,149 full-time teachers, among which 52.32% have senior professional post and 79.35% have master or doctor degree. More than 126 persons-time are honored as high-level talents or high-level talent reserve candidates with the professional titles such as Expert with State Council Special Allowance, Academic and Technical Leaders of Sichuan Province, Expert of Tianfu Qingcheng Program, Expert of Tianfu Emei Program, etc. More than 30 persons-time have been awarded the national honorary titles such as National Medical Ethics Pacesetter, Provincial Labor Model, May 1st Labor Model, etc.

CMC has built 15 provincial or department-level key scientific research platforms such as Sichuan Key Laboratory, Sichuan Engineering Laboratory and Sichuan Key Research Base of Philosophy and Social Science, established 11 provincial or department-level first-class research teams and organized 7 provincial or ministry-level associations or social organizations. Since 2005, 167 projects have been approved by National Natural Science Foundation of China or National Social Science Foundation of China and 312 projects have been approved at the provincial or ministerial level. Teachers’ academic papers have been published in the top international academic journals such as Cell, and more than 1,000 papers have been indexed by SCI, EI, CPCI-S, etc. 145 academic works have been published and 177 patents have been authorized. In recent years, CMC has won 1 first prize and 6 second prizes in the provincial or ministerial scientific and technological achievement awards. Journal of Chengdu Medical College has been ranked as China Technological Article Statistical Source Journals and rated as an excellent scientific and technological journal by the national or provincial news and publishing departments time and again.

III. Admission Requirements

The international students applying for the MA education of Clinical Medicine in CMC must meet the following requirements:

1. Being currently in China and 18 to 35 years old with valid foreign passports.

2. Abiding by the laws and regulations of People’s Republic of China and the rules and regulations of the school, being respectful of Chinese customs and habits and friendly to Chinese people, and having good health and good conduct with no criminal records.

3. Being an undergraduate in Clinical Medicine with diploma and bachelor degree.

4. Band 4 or above in the Chinese proficiency test (HSK).

IV. Application period

May to June, 2023.

V. Duration and Certificate

1. Duration: 3 years

2. Certificate: diploma and M.A. certificate (after successfully completing the M.A. course study and the thesis writing and defense).

VI. Fee Structure (in RMB)

1. Registration: 800 YUAN

2. Tuition: 25,000 YUAN/year

3. Hostel: 8000 YUAN/year for single room; 4000/year for double room

4. Others (including textbooks, insurance, resident permit, health examination fee, etc.): paid as actual price.

VII. Scholarship

25,000 Yuan RMB per academic year (CMC conducts monthly assessment on daily performance, and qualified students can get corresponding scholarship on a monthly basis).

VIII. Application procedures

1. Applicants download such application materials as the application form on the official website of Exchange and Cooperation Office (https://dwjl.cmc.edu.cn/index.jsp).

2. Applicants send the required documents (electronic version or photocopies) to the email address([email protected]):

(1) Application Form;

(2) Valid passport and latest visa page;

(3) Clinical Medicine Diploma and Degree Certificate, or enrollment certificates with official seal of the University;

(4) Undergraduate Academic Transcript;

(5) Health examination report with the seal of a government hospital (After April 1, 2023);

(6) Letter of No Criminal Record (issued by local public security bureauafter April 1, 2023);

(7) Letter of financial guarantee;

(8) Recommendation letters (minimum 2 copies);

(9) Study plan；

(10) Color photo of 2 inches with white background.

3. The application deadline was June 20, 2023. The admission results will be announced within 2 to 4 weeks after the application deadline. The admitted students will receive the admission notice; The applicants who have not received the admission notice within the specified time are considered as being not admitted, and the application materials will not be returned.

IX. Registration

Applicants shall register at the specified time with the admission notice and original application materials and 10 2-inch color photos with white background.
